Pathways To Services: A Resource Guide To The Battle Lake Area
The Battle Lake Area Friends & Neighbors has compiled a comprehensive resource guide for the general Battle Lake area. It is entitled Pathways to Services: A Resource Guide to the Battle Lake Area. While it is intended to be especially useful for newcomers to the area, long time residents also will find it helpful since it reflects many of the more recent changes in the community.
The guide is presented in attractive, letter size, three ring binder format with color pictures and tabbed section dividers. It is also offered on CD in PDF format for use on your home computers.
Pathways to Services contains 30 sections providing information about the local area ranging from emergency numbers to government to churches to points of interest to businesses. It references and provides contact information about recreation opportunities, youth activities, health care and professional services. A detailed table of contents combined with tabbed sections and bold headings make the guide easy to use.
The guide focuses on the geographic area that approximates the Battle Lake Public School District, but can generally be described as follows; from the Amor/Maine area south and east to the Otter Tail County line near Inspiration Peak, and from east of Vining westward nearly to Underwood. Every effort was make to include businesses and attractions in that area. Some businesses from outside the area were included if they offered services not otherwise available.
The mission of the Battle Lake Area Friends & Neighbors is to orient newcomers to the area and foster a good neighbor setting thereby encouraging a greater sense of community. The Pathways to Services resource guide is an important tool in orienting newcomers to the area and will make more of the community visible and available to both new and long-time residents.
